he Communication and Information Ministry will build 125 base transceiver stations (BTS) in the border areas of Kalimantan, covering the provinces of East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan and West Kalimantan.
"The plan to build the 125 BTS has been included in the 2015 state budget," the acting director of special telecommunications of the ministry, Ismail, said in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Wednesday as quoted by Antara news agency.
In June, the ministry will study the number of spots suitable for the construction of the BTS, especially ones with telecommunications towers.
The BTS construction will be prioritized at Indonesian Army border posts, Ismail said, adding that the stations were expected to fulfill multiple communication requirements of the community, as well as assist the military in maintaining security in border regions.
Currently, 30 Army posts in border areas have telecommunications towers. (hhr)
