N. Sumatra traffic accident victims identified

The police identified 17 students killed in a traffic accident in Masnauli village, Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra, on Thursday.

The 17 victims, who were junior and senior high school students, were Gabriel Laia, 12, Villiana Laia, 16, Rosalinda Manik, 16, Risdawati Hutagalung, 16, Boy Tinambunan, 17, Indah Tinambunan, 16, Upiana Laia, 15, Bona Manik, 14, Ariantinus Manalu, 16, Arifianus Manalu, 14, Agusman Delau, 15, Ranto Manalu, 16, Paulinus Tumanggor, 15, Jones Hulu, 13, Erwinto Nainggolan, 17, Purnama Sari, 17, and Viktor Delau, 15.

Five students seriously injured in the accident were Rika Andriyani, 13, Roka Silalahi, 16, Delima, 18, Marina Ginting, 11, Melani Halawa, 15, and Richard Riadi, 15.

The accident occurred when an truck taking 40 students to school plunged into a ravine after one of its tires ruptured. Eighteen other students survived the accident.(+++)
