Diananda Choirunisa looked dejected and cried her heart out after she heard the announcement declaring her Vietnamese opponent the gold winner in the women'€™s team recurve, but a two-gold strike by fellow Indonesians later gave her solace.

Diananda, Ika Yuliana Rochmawati and Titik Kusumawardani were beaten 0-6 by the
Vietnamese team consisting of Nguyen Thi Quyen Trang, Loc Thi Dao and Le Thi Thu Hien at the Kallang Cricket Field in Singapore on Saturday.

Ika Yuliana Rochmawati made up for the disappointment. Teaming up with Riau Ega Agata Salsabila, she grabbed gold in the mixed team recurve.

Titik also lifted up her game by taking gold in the women'€™s individual recurve.

Ika and Ega won 5-1 over Malaysia'€™s Khairul Anuar Mohamad and Shin Hui Loke, while Titik made a clean sweep 6-0 over Vietnam'€™s Thi Dao Loc.

'€œI'€™m glad I can collect gold for Indonesia. It was not easy, but having played her [Thi Dao Loc] before, I used that experience to overcome her,'€ said Titik.

Coach Denny Trisjanto also appeared relieved after looking upset by the recurve team'€™s failure.

'€œWe had a lot of archers in the final. However, the two events [mixed team recurve and women'€™s individual recurve] are our favorites to win gold,'€ he said.

The missing gold saw the team'€™s failure to emulate its achievement in the last SEA Games when it won gold by defeating the same opponents.

Indonesia brought home two gold medals from the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar, in the women'€™s team recurve with Ika, Titik and Diananda and in the team compound event courtesy of Rona Siska Sari, Sri Ranti and Dellie Threesyadinda.

Ika could only show a bitter smile when she realized that the gold had slipped between their fingers this time.

'€œThe win is unpredictable. Well, that just an excuse that I can think of. I'€™m sorry for not being able to bring home gold [from the team recurve event], but we still have chances in the men'€™s team and individual events,'€ she said.

Indonesia'€™s hopes for gold in the men'€™s team recurve event were blown as Hendra Purnama, Riau Egam Muhammad Wijaya were narrowly beaten by Malaysia'€™s Muhamad Ikram Joni, Mohamad Khairul Anuar and Kamaruddin Haziq by 5-4.

With two gold medals in hand, Indonesia topped the medal standings, followed by Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand, which bagged one gold each.

Indonesian archers will be back on the field on Saturday when 10 golds will be under contention.
