he body of an Australian tourist Martin Cameron Snodgrass, 47, was found in the ocean near Blue Lagoon beach in Karangasem on Saturday.
Snodgrass left his hotel in Candidasa to go snorkeling on Thursday morning, however, he did not return and was reported missing.
All of his belongings were still in his room and police also found a bag he had left on the beach when he went snorkeling.
On Saturday his body was discovered in the ocean and was taken to the Sanglah Hospital morgue.
Crime section head of Karangasem police, Adj. Comr. Noor Maghantara, said the victim appeared to have drowned while he was snorkeling.
'Preliminary investigation found that there were no signs of violence,' he said, adding that an autopsy was required to reveal the cause of death.
Sanglah forensic team head, Ida Bagus Putu Alit, said that an external examination had been conducted. 'We do not find any wounds on the body. There was no external sign of violence,' he said.
