President Joko âJokowiâ Widodo is set to visit the shipyard industry on Batam Island in Riau Islands province on Sunday
President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is set to visit the shipyard industry on Batam Island in Riau Islands province on Sunday.
One-stop Integrated Service Agency (PTSP) director Dwi Djoko Wiwoho said on Friday that besides making a visit to the shipyard industry, the President would also distribute Indonesian Health Cards (KIS) to low-income residents of the island.
'The President will get a close look at the shipyard industry. We hope the President's visit will refresh the investment climate on the island,' Dwi said.
According to Dwi, the shipyard industry is expected to experience economic slowdown as a result of the government's policy to limit mineral exports, which has already dampened demand for tugboats.
'There are around 100 shipyard companies operating in Batam but their production process has slowed because of the mining-product export limitation,' he said.(+++)
