resident Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo volunteer organizations, namely Seknas Jokowi and Seknas Perempuan, celebrated the President's 54th birthday, which fell on Sunday, by giving out light meals to people to break the fast.
The event was held in two spots, namely the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle and the Arjuna Wijaya chariot statue in Central Jakarta, where they also gave out tumpengan (cone-shaped rice) around the area.
'This is our political support for the President's administration. We will keep reminding him to realize the Nawacita programs,' the event coordinator from Seknas Perempuan, Maeda Yoppy, said on the sidelines of the event on Sunday, referring to the nine priority programs of the Jokowi administration.
Maeda admitted that the President's administration was struggling to realize the programs and that it had not reached the optimum result to develop the country.
'In some aspects, the Jokowi administration's work has not gone very well, but we can accept it as Jokowi has been president for less than a year,' she said.
She said the economic slowdown was one of the problems that the President needed to resolve.
Economic growth slowed to 4.71 percent in the first quarter, its slowest level in six years, partly as a result of lower domestic consumption.
Jokowi also posted his first tweet as president on his official Twitter account on his birthday on Sunday, expressing his pleasure to share sahur (predawn meal) with his family. (fsu)(++++)
