ank Indonesia's (BI) Jambi branch has prepared Rp 2.6 trillion (US$195 million) to meet the cash needs of Jambi residents during Ramadhan and Idul Fitri, a bank official has said.
"For customers who need small change, don't worry. BI has prepared Rp 2.6 trillion in cash," BI Jambi head V. Carlusa said on Tuesday.
"Starting from June 15, we are distributing the cash to areas across Jambi," said Carlusa.
He said BI Jambi had prepared mobile cash services where people could get small change to hand out to their relatives, friends or neighbors during the Idul Fitri celebrations. The mobile services will operate in Kuala Tungkal from June 15 to 17 and in Northeastern Tanjungjabung from July 6 to 8. The mobile services are currently operating in Kerinci, which started on June 22 and will end on June 26.
According to Carlusa, BI is also working with general banks to provide small change services. They include BNI Thehok, BRI Soetomo, Bank Jambi Telanaipura, BTN Selincah, BCA Nusa Indah, Bank Bukopin-Rawasari Terminal, and Mandiri Sipin. The banks will operate from July 2 to 15 from 9 a.m. until noon.
