Islands in focus: Police run reenactment of Engeline'€™s murder

P

olice conducted a reenactment on Monday of the murder of 8-year-old Engeline Margret Megawe in a house on Jl. Sedap Malam No. 26, Denpasar, where the tragedy took place.

Under heavy security, two suspects in the murder case, Engeline'€™s adoptive mother, Margriet Christina Megawe, and a house worker, Agustay Hamba May, were taken from Bali Police custody to the house.

During the five-hour reenactment, the suspects and witnesses performed a total of 98 scenes. '€œYes, there were 98 scenes performed during reenactment,'€ Denpasar Police investigator Comr. Nengah Sadiarta told The Jakarta Post.

Margriet, however, refused to participate in most of the scenes, performing in only some such as when she and Engeline were sleeping in her bedroom in the morning, on the day of the murder on May 16. A policewoman filled in as Margriet and performed the other scenes.

Lawyers of both suspects also attended the reenactment.
