he Jakarta administration is looking to begin construction on three water pump houses in August in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, in an attempt to reduce the large puddles that collect in the area on rainy days.
North Jakarta Water Agency head Kasna said on Wednesday that the water pump houses would be built on the Betik River, BGR River and Artha Gading mobile pump.
'The water pump houses will be able to drive excessive water volume into the Sunter River and from there into the sea,' Kasna said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Currently, he added, all excess water was retained at Artha Gading mobile pump.
The agency is waiting for an auction to be held by the Goods and Service Procurement Unit (ULP), with the process hoped to be completed by the end of July.
'We are running behind schedule,' Kasna said, adding that construction was expected to take four months.
