Tight selection process applied to get best candidates: Committee

C

orruption Eradication Commission (KPK) selection committee spokesperson, Betti Alisjahbana, has said that a tight KPK commissioner selection process, involving various institutions and society groups, would hopefully lead to the selection of quality anti-graft leaders.

Speaking during the two-day screening test, which began on Monday, Betti said that the selection committee would use the test to measure not only the intelligence potential of the candidates but also their personality, integrity, work potential and their social relation patterns.

She further said the test was also aimed at measuring the managerial competence that the candidates might need to carry out their leadership tasks and functions.

'€œWe are including several competent institutions in those fields. We will engage assessors in the field of psychology, management and human resource development, and law,'€ said Betti.

She added the selection committee had also begun to cooperate with several institutions such as the National Police, the Attorney General'€™s Office (AGO), the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) as well as the Finance Ministry and civil society groups to trace the backgrounds of the candidates.

As reported earlier, candidates for leadership of the anti-graft body are scheduled to undergo two screening tests on Monday.

'€œIn the third round of the selection process today, they will have two tests, one of which is a psychological test,'€ she said as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Monday. Another test that the candidates will undergo is an English test, she says.

Betti further explained that on the second day of the screening test, candidates would undergo various group activities and interviews.

'€œOn Tuesday, candidates are scheduled to undergo simulations [role plays], leadership group discussions and interviews and they are set to make some presentations,'€ she said.

There are 48 candidates to be selected in the second round. They consist of 9 law enforcers (prosecutors, judges and police officers), eight academicians, six candidates from corporations, five KPK officials, four auditors, three candidates from civil society groups, four candidates from state institutions, three civil servants and the three remaining candidates from other institutions.
