he Aceh Documentation and Information Center (PDIA) will exhibit rare collections of historical documents at the Aceh Museum in Banda Aceh starting from July 30 until August 4 as part of the museum's 100th anniversary celebration.
According to PDIA director Zunaimar, the collections will include photos, books, monographs, and publications from the eras of the Aceh sultanate, the Dutch colonial administration, and during the early phases of the country's independence.
"A golden letter from Prince Maurits to Acehnese sultan, a purchasing document of Dakota RI-001, Indonesia's first airplane bought using donation from the Acehnese, and historical pictures of public figures, places and events are only some of the things that visitors can access at the museum," said Zunaimar as quoted by Antara news agency on Wednesday.
Other interesting collections include documents detailing the seizure of Japanese weapons during the independence movement in Aceh, the history of Indonesian Military (TNI) in Aceh, newspaper clippings from 1969 to 1980 about the history of Aceh and writings by historical figures such as Ali Hasjmy, T.A. Talsya and Tjutje.
"Hopefully these collections can be used as educational tools for visitors and to help our younger generation to grasp just how hard their ancestors had to fight for the country's independence," said Zunaimar. (kes)(++++)
