EPOK: West Jakarta's Depok Population and Civil Registration Agency has recorded that 1.4 million out of two million Depok residents will be eligible voters to elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the period of 2016 to 2021 in the regional election slated for Dec. 9.
Agency head Misbahul Munir said on Friday that the 1.4 million eligible voters had been included in the list of potential voters (DP4).
'The current voters are slightly less than 1.4 million people but there will be additional ones like retirees from the military and police, newcomers to Depok as well as teenagers who will be 17 years old in November. So the number will reach 1.4 million,' he said, as quoted by kompas.com.
According to the Depok General Election Commission (KPU), the data will be renewed from Aug. 20 to Sept. 26 while the announcement of a temporary voter list will be made between Sept. 10 to 19. The commission then has five days to fix the data before finally releasing the fixed voter list on October 1 or 2.
The city has only two candidate tickets for the regional elections: incumbent Deputy Mayor Idris and his running mate, Depok Gerindra Party's branch executive board chairman Pradi, and political analyst from Jakarta-based Akar Rumput Strategic Consulting (ARSC) Dimas Oki Nugroho, who is paired with regional executive board chairman of the Depok branch of the Golkar Party Babai Suhaimi.
