he city administration is set to install 13 closed circuit television (CCTV) systems in Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, aiming to identify people involved in brawls in the area.
'We have cooperated with the police for the installment and the spots,' Central Jakarta Mayor Mangara Pardede said on Monday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Meanwhile, Johor Baru Police chief Comr. Wiyono said that CCTV would be installed on 13 streets, comprising Kampung Rawa, Galur Jaya, Jembatan Besi, Kramat Jaya, Baladewa Ujung, Jotet, Gang Macan, Rawa Sawah III, Rawa Sawah IV, Intan, Rawa Selatan, Tanah Tinggi and Johar Baru.
'We hope the CCTV can help us anticipate brawls. So often the brawls happen due to trivial problems,' Wiyono said.
Research on horizontal conflicts in Johar Baru has concluded that a high rate of unemployment among the area's young residents has contributed to brawling.
