tate-owned lender Bank BTN is set to lend city-owned developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Rp 10 trillion (US$740 million) to develop subsidized low-cost apartments known as rusunami throughout the city.

Bank BTN president director Maryono said the cooperation with Jakpro was part of the bank'€™s national One Million Housing project. Separately, Jakpro president director Abdul Hadi said that the company would soon sign a memorandum of understanding with Bank BTN to continue the cooperation.

'€œWe will build low-cost apartments for needy residents,'€ Abdul said at City Hall on Monday.

He said that the company would hold further discussions with the city administration to determine the locations for the low-cost apartments.

Meanwhile, Governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama said the administration wanted to build subsidized low-cost apartments in some locations, such as in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, and Ciangir, Tangerang regency, Banten.
