tate-owned lender Bank BTN is set to lend city-owned developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) Rp 10 trillion (US$740 million) to develop subsidized low-cost apartments known as rusunami throughout the city.
Bank BTN president director Maryono said the cooperation with Jakpro was part of the bank's national One Million Housing project. Separately, Jakpro president director Abdul Hadi said that the company would soon sign a memorandum of understanding with Bank BTN to continue the cooperation.
'We will build low-cost apartments for needy residents,' Abdul said at City Hall on Monday.
He said that the company would hold further discussions with the city administration to determine the locations for the low-cost apartments.
Meanwhile, Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said the administration wanted to build subsidized low-cost apartments in some locations, such as in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, and Ciangir, Tangerang regency, Banten.
