Your comments on the drought that started to take its toll on people around the world, including in Indonesia, where an extended dry season is not expected to end until December:

People should maximize bio-pores in their homes, while big companies need to build roof-tanks to collect rain water. Start it now! We don'€™t need regulations, we just need common sense.

Tax private swimming pools, stop washing cars, cut down on watering plants and the state-owned tap water operator (PDAM) has to reduce water leakages.

Meanwhile, rice farmers need to work out ways to use significantly less irrigation water.

This is very sad. A lot of farmers will be hungry and the National Logistics Body (Bulog) can only supply old and low-quality rice.

The dry season will have a devastating impact on swathes of poor people in the agricultural sector. The government must include funds in the annual budget to address this problem.

God will not prolong this dry season unless we neglect the poor.
