he acquittal of Wilfrida Soik, an Indonesian Migrant worker (TKI) from Belu regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), who was convicted of killing her employer in Malaysia, has been greeted joyfully by her mother Maria Kolo and family.
The family deemed the acquittal, handed down in an appeals session at the Putrajaya Appeals Court in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Tuesday, a miracle from God.
'We're very grateful to God that he has helped our child. We cried with joy after receiving the news from journalists,' family spokesman Kornalis Bere Mau told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.
Kornelis said the whole family immediately prayed to God to express their gratitude over the acquittal handed down to Wilfrida.
On Tuesday, Wilfrida, an Indonesian migrant worker from Belu, East Nusa Tenggara, walked free from the Putrajaya Appeals Court after her conviction for the 2010 murder was overturned. Tuesday's trial was a follow-up hearing for an appeal filed by Malaysian prosecutors against the Kota Bharu High Court's decision to overturn Wilfrida's death sentence.
