Your comments on law enforcers' promise not to criminalize regional heads and government officials handling development projects aimed at speeding up capital expenditure:
I don't believe that law enforcers will comply with the President's call to relax budget oversight. In this country money not only talks but shouts.
Mr. President ' you must act as field commander; you must order and instruct, not appeal and plead.

Is this a license to steal? Law enforcers and civil society groups should keep a close eye on this.

Attorney General M. Prasetyo has said he will establish a team to provide assistance and consultation for public officials.
'It will be a [corruption] prevention [measure],' he added. That is comedy gold.

That's what I call as a serious dilemma. On the one hand, local governments have to disburse funding in order to accelerate economic development, but on the other, when local officials make mistakes in making the funding realization report, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the police investigate the mistakes and prosecute those responsible.

If regional heads and government heads cannot speed up capital expenditure because of complicated procedures, these regional heads and government heads should focus on simplifying procedures, instead of turning a blind eye to corruption.

Freedom of the press
Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo has revoked a circular obliging all visiting foreign journalists to report their activities to all levels of government because it was too confusing for the public. Besides coordinating with the Foreign Affairs Ministry on the revocation, he also offered an apology to President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and said that the circular was not intended to put journalists under surveillance. What do you think of the move? Should the whole country be totally open to foreign media coverage?
