ice President Jusuf Kalla has stressed that law enforcement officers should be able to differentiate crimes from administrative mistakes in a corporation, saying that a mistake of a corporate executive in deciding policy was not necessarily a crime.
'We want law enforcers to act according to the regulations. An administrative mistake should be dealt with according to the relevant code of conduct but if it involves stealing, then it's a crime. So that's how we should also see the case impacting Lino,' he said on Monday, referring to RJ Lino, the president director of PT Pelindo (Indonesian Port) II.
On Friday, the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency searched Lino's office in relation to the questionable purchase of cranes of up to Rp 45 billion (US$3.2 million). The purchase was allegedly in violation of normal procedures.
