ndonesian game developer Toge Production has won this year's game developer competition at the 2015 ASEAN Youth Creative Industry Fair.
Toge Production won the contest last August after beating 12 other finalists from Southeast Asian countries with its game called Infectonator: Survivors.
Toge Production chief operating officer Jonathan Manuel Gunawan said that they initially submitted the game with no expectation of winning.
'To my surprise, we were chosen as one of the finalists and came out as the champion,' Jonathan said, as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
To win the competition, Toge Production defeated game developers from Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar, Vietnam and Japan.
The game, which is the third of Toge's Infectonator series, is about a world where humans are infected by a virus and that turns them into zombies. In the previous versions, quite uniquely, the player got to act as the evil genius who designed the virus. However, in Survivors, Toge switched things up, and now the player is an uninfected human, trying to survive.
The game is still in alpha version, which means it is not done yet. However, users can play the game for free on flash-based websites, or purchase it at the digital game store Steam for US$11.99. (rad/ika)(++++)
