65-year-old businessman, identified as Nelson Marbun, has died from injuries he received during a break-in at his house in Meruya Utara, West Jakarta, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Jakarta Police's general crimes directorate chief Sr. Comr. Krishna Murti said Nelson had been killed and his wife Riris Marbun Boru Pasaribu, 63, injured after they disturbed robbers in their home.
'The husband died as a result of 18 stab wounds to his hands, face, neck and the back of his head,' he said, adding that Riris also received head and hand injuries.
The victim's body, Krishna said, had been taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Central Jakarta, where Riris was also receiving treatment.
'We have questioned two domestic workers who were witnesses. We are now hunting for the perpetrators,' Krishna said as quoted by kompas.com.
Krishna said the police had identified likely suspects from the witness statements and clues from the crime scene.
