Born in Pangkal Lalang, Belitung Island, South Sumatra on July 30, 1923

Education:

Hollandsch-Inlandsche School (HIS elementary school) and Middestand Handel School (MHS junior high school).

Career

1939 : Joins an organization for minorities PERTIMU
1944 : Joins Barisan Pelopor Indonesia, an underground movement against Japanese occupation, which is led
           by Sukarno who later becomes the first president of the country.
1945 : Head of Jakarta chapter of Indonesian Youth Troops
1946 : Joins PKI
1951 : Head of PKI'€™s central committee.

 

Sjam Kamaruzaman

Born in Tuban, East Java, Apr. 30, 1924

Education: Business school in Yogyakarta.

Career:

1947 : Forms a car trade union
1950 : Deputy head of the Central Bureau of the All-Indonesian Labor Union (SOBSI), a labor wing of PKI
1960 : Joins PKI
1964 : Head of PKI'€™s special bureau.
