Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Comr
ead of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso said that he was not concerned about the prospect of the agency leaving its headquarters in Cawang, East Jakarta, later this year.
'We're not bothered by it. We now have all the technology. Even if we are told to work from home, we can do that,' Budi said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The National Police recently decided that they would take back the building, which they had loaned to the BNN for the past 10 years.
Budi said that in the long run, the agency would propose to the government the construction of a new building. 'If people want to work, we have to have the facilities, and if we don't have them, we will make a proposal,' he said.
Budi was sworn in earlier this month as the new head of the BNN, after his brief controversial stint as the chief of the National Police's Criminal Investigations Directorate (Bareskrim). Soon after being sworn in, Budi said that he would propose a revision of Law No. 35/2009 on narcotics, especially Article 54, which states that social and medical rehabilitation must be provided to drug addicts and victims of drug abuse.
