he city council has proposed an official visit to the Dutch city of Rotterdam in the 2016 city budget, following Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama's recent visit to the city.
Councilor Prabowo Soenirman of the Gerindra Party said that the councilors wanted to follow up on the governor's cooperation with the city of Rotterdam and discover whether his statements regarding the visit were true.
'The governor recently visited Rotterdam and has told us of his experiences. We feel that we should also [visit Rotterdam] to see whether or not his statements are in accordance with his visit,' Prabowo said as quoted by kompas.com.
After Ahok's visit to Rotterdam, he uploaded his notes on his official website, ahok.org, listing his activities.
The notes include discussions of cooperation in land reclamation and water management with the Rotterdam city administration.
'This is still a proposal. Hopefully the Home Ministry will approve it,' Prabowo said.
