n officer with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), identified only as First Insp. A, has filed a pretrial petition against the Tangerang Police for arresting him on drug distribution charges.
Windu Wijaya, the lawyer representing First Insp. A, said the pretrial hearing began on Thursday at the Tangerang District Court. 'Yes, we look forward to the trial that was scheduled to start today,' he said on Thursday, as quoted by kompas.com.
On Sept. 17, officers with the Tangerang Police's drug unit arrested First Insp. A in connection with a drug distribution case in Bogor, West Java. He was detained following a tip-off from two men arrested earlier.
Two days after the arrest, the Tangerang Police issued a warrant to arrest First Insp. A.
Windu said the Tangerang Police failed to find any evidence during the arrest and expressed confidence that his client would be released.
