Acting Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) commissioner Johan Budi SP has said the antigraft body's investigation into a graft case implicating House of Representatives lawmaker Dewi Yasin Limpo is ongoing and expects the Hanura Party politician's case dossier to be completed this month.
'We hope to be able to hand over the material [on Dewi], including evidence and the suspect's case dossier to the prosecutor's office next month,' Johan told thejakartapost.com on Friday.
The KPK detained Dewi on Oct.22 after naming her a suspect in bribery case surrounding the construction of a micro-hydro power plant in Deiyai regency, Papua. The Hanura politician, who is also the younger sister of South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo, stands accused of accepting S$177,700 (US$127,500) in bribes.
The case began when KPK investigators allegedly caught red-handed Dewi's personal secretary, Rinelda Bandosa, and four other people, accepting bribes at a restaurant in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Oct.20.
After the arrest, KPK investigators apprehended Dewi and her expert staff member, Bambang Wahyu Hadi, at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's Terminal 2F at 7 p.m. on the same day. It was suspected that the bribery attempt was related to the inclusion of the power plant project in the 2016 state budget.
Since the arrests, the antigraft body has questioned several people in its investigation into the case. The KPK recently summoned the House's secretary-general, Winantuningtyastiti Swasanani, as a witness for Dewi.
Johan confirmed that the KPK questioned Winantuningtyastiti over Dewi's roles in the House's Commission VII, which oversees energy.
"The questioning had to do with[Dewi's] position in the commission, including information on her salary and allowances," Johan said.
Johan said that other House members may give testimony if necessary. "If it is necessary, other parties will be summoned to give testimony related to this case," he said. (ebf)
