AKARTA: Greysia Polii and Nitya Krishinda Maheswari cruised into the women's doubles quarterfinals at the Hong Kong Open badminton championship late on Thursday with a 21-11, 21-16 win over Ayane Kurihara and Naru Shinoya of Japan.
'We have played twice, so we knew each other's strengths and weaknesses,' Nitya said as quoted by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).
The Asian Games gold medalists were scheduled to face Chae Yoo-jung/Kim So-yeong of South Korea late on Friday.
Indonesia was represented six times in the quarterfinals, with Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, the team's only men's player left in contention for the titles, being the first to take to the court, against Japanese Kazumasa Sakai.
The other players on the match roster included Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto (mixed doubles) and Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda Suwardi and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo (men's doubles).
