AKARTA: Hosea Asyer made a double and Matheus Kbarek scored another as the Papua men's team won 3-0 over East Kalimantan on Friday to dominate Pool A of the National Hockey Championship.
The fourth win in as many matches leaves Papua on 12 points.
At the Senayan Astroturf hockey field in Central Jakarta, the marauding Papuans went ahead in the 21st minute through Matheus before Hosea doubled the lead with a goal in the 35th minute.
Hosea scored his second early in the second half to consign East Kalimantan to second place in the group with nine points.
In the women's division, Jakarta defeated North Sumatra 2-0, but the host had to be content with second place in Pool C.
Jakarta has collected ten points, equal to East Kalimantan, but loses out on goal difference, with 20 against 43.
In the semifinals, Jakarta will face Pool D champion Papua while East Kalimantan will be challenged by West Papua.
