Greater Jakarta: Teens thwart snatchers in S. Jakarta

J

AKARTA: Two girls thwarted an attempt by two alleged thieves, identified as RR, 28, and IR, 30, from stealing a mobile phone in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on Saturday.

Kebayoran Lama Police chief Comr. Agus Rizal explained that the victims, Nabila Syarifa, 16, and Dinda Mizan, 15, were riding a motorcycle on Jl. Dharma Putra, South Kebayoran Lama subdistrict, when the snatchers '€” who were also on motorcycles '€” approached and grabbed the mobile phone from Nabila'€™s hand.

'€œNabila and Dinda were not afraid. Instead, they immediately chased the fleeing suspects while screaming to attract attention, calling them snatchers,'€ Agus said, as quoted by wartakotalive.com, adding that the incident occurred at 5 p.m.

Agus added that the screams attracted residents and police officers who then joined the hunt.

The residents and police officers managed to arrest the suspects a kilometer away from the scene of the alleged crime.

The suspects were brought to the Kebayoran Lama Police office, according to Agus.
