President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has called for the acceleration of the development of power plants and oil refineries to attract investors.

Jokowi said on Thursday that all stakeholders must be prepared to take advantage of the vast investment opportunities.

"We have to provide service so that we won't miss opportunities," he said at the opening of a limited Cabinet, according to a press statement.

Jokowi led a limited Cabinet meeting on state oil and gas firm Pertamina and state electricity company PLN at the Presidential Office on Thursday.

He insisted that the national's electrification ratio could reach 100 percent by 2019, which is when his tenure ends.

The national electrification ration stood at 87.3 percent in September, an 82.9 percent increase from September last year, according to PLN data.

Jokowi's administration launched a mega project to build power plants with a combined capacity of 35,000 megawatts as a commitment to create national energy independence.

Jokowi also asked that oil refinery development, which had been shelved for 30 years, be realized soon.

"I want construction accelerated, both by the government and state-owned enterprises. Don't postpone it. I don't want to hear any excuses," he said.

Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Puan Maharani, Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Rizal Ramli, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Sumarno, State Secretary Praktino, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, PLN director Sofyan Basir and Pertamina president director Dwi Soetjipto also attended the meeting.
