The General Elections Commission (KPUD) in Surakarta, Central Java, had completely distributed materials for regional head elections in the city to subdistrict polling committees (PPS) by Monday, an election official has said.
'Today, all election logistics have been distributed. Tomorrow [Tuesday], Polling Station Working Committees (KPPS) will pick up the election materials from PPS offices and, on Dec. 9, we will be ready to hold the elections,' the KPUD Surakarta's logistic division commissioner, Suryo Baruno, at the commission's office on Monday.
Suryo also said that the regional election supplies, comprising ballots, the same number as the voters registered in the final voter lists (DPT), election ink, ballot marking pens, voting chambers and voting templates for disable persons, were being kept in sealed boxes.
Not only supplies, but election officials, including KPPS officials for 1,000 TPS, have also been readied.
'Half of the C6 forms [voting invitations] have been distributed. All C6 forms will have been received by voters on Tuesday at the latest,' the KPUD Surakarta's election organizing division commissioner, Pata Hindra Aryanto, said.
He added that citizens who had not yet received C6 forms could still exercise their right to vote as long as they had been registered on the DPT or on additional voter lists (DPTb).
'Even if they are not yet registered on either the DPT or the DPTb, they can still cast ballots by using their IDs. As long as they have IDs, they will not lose their right to vote,' said Pata.
He said that the KPUD would also facilitate voters who were being treated in hospitals during election day so that they would be able to exercise their voting rights by using A5 forms to cast ballots in the nearest polling stations.
Meanwhile, KPUD Wonogiri also has completely distributed election materials in that area. The commission's head, Mat Nawir, said as many as 2,030 ballot boxes and 4,060 voting chambers had been prepared in areas across the regency.
'All processes related to logistics have been completed. All election materials have been fully distributed. We are now waiting for election day, which will be held on Dec. 9,' said Mat Nawir. (ebf)
