elegates from 83 countries and three international organizations will take part in the eighth Bali Democracy Forum at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Thursday and Friday. Vice President Jusuf Kalla is scheduled to officially open the forum on Thursday morning.
The Foreign Ministry's director general for information and public diplomacy, Esti Andayani, told reporters on Wednesday that among the delegates were ministers and assistant ministers from 19 countries.
Among those officially taking part in the forum are Australian assistant for Multicultural Affairs, Senator the Hon. Concetta Fierravanti-Wells; Timor Leste's Justice Minister, Ivo Jorge Valente; and Singapore's State for Communication and Information Minister and State for Health Minister, Chee Hong Tat.
'The theme for the forum is Democracy and Effective Public Governance,' Esti said.
Meanwhile, as part of preparations to safeguard the forum, thousands of police and military personnel held a final rehearsal in Lagun field, Nusa Dua, on Thursday afternoon. The ninth regional military command (Kodam IX) Udayana commander Maj. Gen. M. Setyo Sularso declared that his team was ready to safeguard the event.
