ndalas University (Unand) on Tuesday launched the Minangkabau Corner, a research and development center for Minangkabau culture on the third floor of the Unand Library building in Limau Manis, Padang.
The Minangkabau Corner holds thousands of old and unique Minangkabau texts depicting the history, literature and traditional medicine of the Minangkabau community. The older texts dating back to the 18th century are in digital format and 70 original versions are also available.
Minangkabau Corner head Pramono said the concept of the Minangkabau Corner emerged when Unand researchers were digitizing old texts in 2013.
A photo exhibition of Minangkabau culture by photographer Edy Utama was held to mark the opening of the center.
