AirAsia has joined other airlines in banning all lithium battery-powered transportation devices, including hoverboards and Segways, on board its flights.
It said such devices would not be allowed on board as either check-in or hand carry baggage on all AirAsia and AirAsia X flights.
The other banned items are mini-Segways, electronic scooters, solowheels, airwheels, balance wheels and similar equipment.
However, AirAsia said battery-operated wheelchairs or mobility devices would be allowed on board under certain circumstances, subÂject to the removal of the battery.
The maximum weight allowed for these wheelchairs and mobility devices was 85kg, it said in a statement.
Guests traveling with battery-operated items are also encouraged to refer to AirAsia's guidelines online.
Other airlines which have imposed similar restrictions are Malaysia Airlines, Malindo Air, Singapore Airlines and its subsidiary Tiger Airways, and British Airways, among others. (kes)(+)
