EKANBARU: At least 3,000 families in four subdistricts in Kampar Kiri Hulu district, Kampar regency, Riau, are still isolated in their neighborhoods following the flood and landslide that hit the area in late November.
The four subdistricts are Kebun Tinggi, Pangkalan Kapas, Lubuklinggau and Tanjung Permai.
Kampar Kiri Hulu district head Nuzul Aslal said that severe hunger had begun to threaten the affected people after the disasters damaged the only access road to the area in addition to five bridges.
'They received food supplies from the Riau provincial administration last December but nothing is left because no additional supplies have been delivered after that,' Nuzul said on Friday.
Syarifuddin, head of Riau's Social Affairs Agency, said the administration could not yet send logistical aid due to transportation challenges.
