Tara Basro, 25, said her character binged on instant noodles served at a food stall in Glodok, West Jakarta, for every meal.
'During the first day of shooting I finished seven bowls,' she said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The film, which has screened at many international film festivals and won Best Picture at the Indonesian Film Festival 2015, will be released in theaters on Feb. 11.
With a small budget of around Rp 250 million (US$18,270), Joko said that the facilities for the cast were also minimal.
'All the crew and cast were prepared for the least facilities manageable. We just sat on the curb during shooting breaks,' he said.
