error convict Abu Bakar Ba'asyir defended on Tuesday a military training camp in Aceh used by alleged terrorists, insisting that donating to the camp did not contravene Islamic teachings.
'If the court finds me guilty of violating state laws, that's not a problem for me. The important thing is that what I've done is not contrary to Islamic teaching,' said Ba'asyir in the final session of his case review at the Cilacap District Court.
He told judges that Muslims were allowed to undergo physical training for the sake of dignity and self-defense in the event of facing an enemy.
Ba'asyir added that combat training for Muslims was necessary because the enemies of Islam use weapons, rendering preaching an inadequate defense.
