n a bid to ease traffic congestion during the annual Java Jazz Festival from March 4 through March 6, PT Transjakarta will deploy 10 buses to accommodate festival visitors on a specific route.
Transjakarta spokesperson Prasetia Budi said on Thursday the route would start from Blok M in South Jakarta, go through Monas in Central Jakarta and end at the festival venue in JI. Expo Kemayoran in Central Jakarta.
'The buses will operate from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. and for Sunday the operational hours will be extended to between 9 a.m. and 2 a.m.,' he said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
He said the buses would pass a number of congested locations including Bunderan Senayan and Gelora Bung Karno in South Jakarta as well as Dukuh Atas and Gambir in Central Jakarta.
'So people will not need to bring their own vehicles as that would increase congestion. Please park your vehicles near a Busway shelter,' he continued.
Java Jazz will feature more than 100 domestic and foreign musicians. Among the performers are American pop artist Robin Thicke as well as producer David Foster and the Java Jazz Friends. Foster will share the stage with some of the festival's favorite local musicians, though no specific names have been released so far.
