fter 141 days of uncertainty, the body of British expatriate Scott Roddie, 52, was finally buried at the Sei Temiang Public Cemetery in Batam on Wednesday.

“The body of Scott Roddie was buried after a representative of Roddie’s family arrived from Britain to settle documents for his funeral,” spokesman for the Batam Free Trade Zone Authority Hospital, Wawan Setiawan, said on Thursday.

“However, his family has yet to pay the Rp 40 million [US$ 3,043] mortuary fees. His relative asked for a week to settle the bill,” he added.

Wawan said Roddie’s body was admitted to the hospital on Feb. 10 after it was transferred from the Awal Bros Hospital, where he was initially treated prior to his death.

“His death certificate was issued by the Awal Bros Hospital, we just received his body. We are still waiting for his family to settle the bill,” he said.
