A

prosecutor at the Central Jakarta District Court has presented the leftover of the cyanide-tainted Vietnamese coffee Wayan Mirna Salihin drank from before her death.

The coffee was stored in a transparent bottle. Unlike the color of regular coffee, the liquid inside the bottle looked yellowish.

A loud pop was heard when prosecutor Ardito Muwardi opened the bottle at the court hearing on Wednesday. The judges looked surprised by the sound and then covered their noses against the apparent stench of the liquid.

"We wanted the court to note the chemical reaction that happened when we opened the bottle," Ardito said during the trial of Jessica Kumala Wongso, who stands accused of poisoning Mirna with the cyanide-tainted coffee.

Ardito showed the liquid to Boon Juwita alias Hani, who appeared as a witness. Hani confirmed it was the coffee that she had seen at the cafe.

The panel of judges adjourned the hearing until July 20, when Olivier café staff members are scheduled to testify. (ary)
