rowded Jl. Kemang Selatan in South Jakarta was closed on Monday afternoon as hundreds of Go-Jek drivers protested in front of the offices of Go-Jek, the popular motorcycle taxi ride-hailing app.
"Residents are suggested to avoid Jl. Kemang Selatan. The demonstration will be over at 5 p.m.," police officer Adj. Corm. M Safi'I told The Jakarta Post on Monday.
Motorists from Jl. Antasari heading to Jl. Benda are advised to take Jl. Jeruk Purut that leads to Jl. Ampera.
From Jl. Ampera, motorists can take Jl. Kemang Timur to Jl. Kemang Raya or Jl. Basmar near Jagal Market. Meanwhile, from Jl. Kemang Raya to Jl. Kemang Selatan or Jl. Benda, motorists can take Jl. Antasari to avoid the blockage, Safi'i said.
The demonstration was joined by hundreds of Go-Jek drivers across the city. The Jakarta Police have deployed more than 300 personnel to secure the protest. (bbn)
