ight private companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the city administration to renovate the fountain at the iconic Hotel Indonesia Traffic Circle, known as Bundaran HI, in Central Jakarta.
The eight companies are PT Bank Central Asia, PT Plaza Indonesia Realty, PT Wisma Nusantara International, PT Grand Indonesia, PT Sinarwisata Lestari, PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, PT Astra International and PT DREI Indonesia.
Gandi Sulistiyanto, managing director of Sinarmas Group, of which Sinarwisata Lestari is a subsidiary, said during the signing ceremony on Thursday that the companies were grateful to be able to help fund the project.
“Bundaran HI was built in 1962 ahead of the fourth Asian Games. Now, we have been asked to renovate the fountain before the upcoming Asian Games,” he said.
The firms have agreed to use corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds to finance the project, estimated to cost Rp 28 billion (US$2.1 million).
