emocratic Party politician Sutan Bhatoegana, who was suffering liver cancer, passed away at BMC Hospital in Bogor, West Java, on Saturday morning.
"Sutan Bhatoegana passed away at 8 a.m. in Bogor," the Law and Human Rights Ministry’s Directorate General of Penitentiaries spokesperson, Akbar Hadi, said as reported by kompas.com.
The former member of the House of representatives was previously being treated at Hermina Hospital in Bandung, and then transferred to MMC Hospital in Jakarta, before eventually being moved to BMC Hospital. He is to be buried in Bogor on Saturday afternoon.

Sutan was currently serving a prison sentence in Sukamiskin penitentiary in Bandung.
The Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced Sutan on Aug. 19, last year, to 10 years’ imprisonment for accepting a bribe worth US$340,000. In April this year, the Supreme Court increased his sentence to 12 years. (jun)
