search and rescue team in Pelalawan regency, Riau, found another victim of the capsized Gertiga Express boat on Friday, while an 11-month-baby remains missing.
The body of the victim, 35-year-old Nur, was found on Friday by passing fishermen in Gambut Mutiara village, Teluk Meranti district, several kilometers away from the site of the capsizing, the Pelalawan Disaster Mitigation Agency’s (BPBD Pelalawan) head, Hadi Penandio, said on Friday.
Nur’s body was found floating near the river bank. Her family confirmed her identity as one of the victims of the ill-fated boat.
The joint search and rescue team comprising 65 people from various groups will continue to search for the missing baby by expanding the search area downstream to waters near Tanjung Pebilah village in Tanjung Pandak and Muda Island.
The boat capsized in the Kampar River in Riau, midway between Tanjung Batu, Riau Islands province, and Pangkalan Kerinci in Pelalawan, Riau, on Wednesday.
