JAKARTA: Singer/songwriter Isyana Sarasvati was honored as Best Asian Artist for Indonesia at the South Korean music appreciation event, Mnet Asian Music Awards 2016, kapanlagi.com reported.

The announcement of the award, the selection for which was partly based on public votes, was made on Dec. 2 at a ceremony in the Asia-World Expo hall in Hong Kong.

“It’s a tremendous honor for me to receive the award. Thank you for the delightful gift in the beginning of this last month of the year,” she wrote on her Instagram account.

Isyana didn’t make it to the annual awards ceremony and neither did other Best Asian Artist award recipients for this year, like Getsunova from Thailand, Noo Phuc Thin from Vietnam, Sekai no Owari from Japan, Hua Chenyu from China and JJ Lin from Singapore. Like Isyana, these artists sent video speeches that were screened during the event. — JP
