Island focus: US consulate to screen ‘Romeo is Bleeding’

T

he US consulate in Medan, North Sumatra, plans to hold a public screening of Romeo is Bleeding at the Center Point Medan’s Ruko (shop house) compound on Monday.

The consulate will also give the opportunity to Indonesians, especially those in Medan, to meet face-to-face with director Jason Zeldes and actor Donte Clark.

The consulate’s public affairs assistant Caroline Tanjaya said both figures would be present in a discussion after the screening.

“The film tells about social conflict and violence committed in Richmond city, California,” Caroline said in a press statement made available to The Jakarta Post, Friday.

She said that in the film a talented youth named Donte Clark used Shakespeare’s noted literary work to lead a community to end a conflict.
