he Bali Police are investigating a low-grade explosive device found at a food stall in a popular tourist area in Ubud, Bali, on Tuesday, which they suspected was left to create a disturbance on the world famous resort island.
The firecrackers were discovered inside a backpack found on Tuesday morning in front of a food stall on Jl. Raya Banjar Lungsiakan in Kedewatan subdistrict, Gianyar Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Waluya said.
The food stall’s owner, identified as I Ketut Suela, found the bag with an attached note bearing the word “Bomb” when he was about to open his stall. Suela immediately asked people nearby to move away and reported the bag to village supervisory non-commissioned officers (Babinsa), who later called the local police.
Waluya said the low-grade explosive device contained gunpowder. The police are still continuing their investigation to find out who placed the bomb at the location. “This could be categorized as terrorism as they have made people uneasy, made people scared,” he said.
