fter taking a hiatus for almost a year, local pop indie duo Banda Neira announced on Friday that they were breaking up.
“After discussing the matter in length for almost a year, we have reached a decision. We decided to no longer continue Banda Neira,” guitarist Ananda Badudu announced on his Instagram account.
Set up in 2012, Banda Neira is a pop duo consisting of Ananda on guitar and vocals and Rara Sekar on keyboard and vocals.
Rara also posted a similar message on her Instagram account.
Despite posting similar messages, the reason behind the split up is not clear.
Banda Neira released their debut album Berjalan Lebih Jauh (Walk Farther) in 2013 and their second album Yang Patah Tumbuh, Yang Hilang Berganti (The Broken Will Heal, the Lost Will be Replaced) earlier this year.
During the launch of their second album, the duo announced that they were taking a break so that Rara could continue her studies abroad.
