he Tangerang administration commenced on Monday the construction of a bridge costing Rp 33 billion (US$2.5 million) that is aimed at reducing traffic congestion.
Named the Dadang Suprapto Bridge, it would be built on Jl. Suprapto, Karawaci district and cross the Cisadane River. It is supposed to be completed this year. The funds came from Banten provincial budget, said Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah, as reported by wartakotalive.com.
The bridge, which would span more than 115 meters, would also have a special lane with a roof for pedestrians. The construction of the bridge is necessary as Tangerang city recorded an increase in the number of private vehicles, Arief said without giving further details. The bridge is expected to ease traffic congestion in the busy area.
