Falling tree kills two motorists next to University of Indonesia campus

Two motorists died on Jl. Lenteng Agung Timur next to the University of Indonesia campus in Depok on Saturday afternoon after a falling tree hit them.

wo motorists died on Jl. Lenteng Agung Timur next to the University of Indonesia campus in Depok, West Java, on Saturday afternoon after a falling tree hit them.

“The incident happened at about 5 p.m. The victims were riding a motorcycle when the tree fell,” Jagakarsa Police chief Comr. Prayitno said as quoted by kompas.com.

The two victims were husband and wife Miftah Abdillah Achmad, 26, and Rustiana Imala Putri, 27. They were residents of Pabuaran in Bogor, West Java.

“The two bodies were rushed immediately to Fatmawati Hospital [in South Jakarta],” Prayitno added.

The tree also hit a passing car, but luckily it didn’t harm the car’s passengers.

The incident caused heavy traffic congestion. (vny/dmr)
