Rano Karno - Antara
The campaign team of Banten gubernatorial ticket Rano Karno-Embay Mulya Syarief has filed an election dispute with the Constitutional Court challenging the official vote count by the Banten General Elections Commission (KPU Banten).
According to KPU Banten, Rano-Embay lost the vote by a slight margin, 49.05 percent as opposed to the 50.95 percent achieved by rival ticket Wahidin Halim-Andika Hazrumy.
“Our decision to file the dispute is based on our reports and complaints about alleged vote-rigging and other administrative violations, which we believe were systemic, especially in Tangerang city and Serang regency,” Rano-Embay campaign team head Ahmad Basarah said in a press release.
As of Tuesday, candidates from 33 of 101 regions that held simultaneous elections on Feb. 15 had filed disputes with the court.
